A Product Data Management (PDM) system allows easy and efficient management of CAD data, as well as any other data related to the design and design process. BOMs, drawings, design representation files, data transmittals and other meta data related to the design can be managed. PDM can significantly save time and costs, while increasing efficiency, allowing the team to focus on the important aspects of Engineering and Design, without having to worry about administration of data.
This paper will be looking at the application of hardware and software technologies to facilitate a more refined PDM process for an easy, efficient and smart data management system that allows users to focus their time and effort on design, development and engineering.
