Chapter 1: Introduction to Autodesk Advance Steel
The core purpose of Advance Steel is to accelerate the creation of detailed and accurate structural steel models. These models are used to generate fabrication-ready drawings, connection designs, and material lists—saving time, reducing errors, and improving collaboration across the project lifecycle. Whether detailing structural frames, stairs, railings, or complex trusses, Advance Steel equips users with industry-specific tools that go far beyond traditional 2D CAD drafting.

Chapter 4: Outputs
The term "outputs" refers to the various types of documentation and deliverables generated from the 3D model. These outputs are essential for communication between design, fabrication, and construction teams. The main outputs fall into three categories: plans, shop drawings, and reports.Integration & Automation• All outputs are linked to the 3D model, so changes to the model automatically update the drawings and reports. • Use of drawing processes and drawing styles in Advance Steel helps automate consistent output generation.Once the Drawings and Reports are generated, it must be managed via the Menu 2.4.2 > Document Manager ONLY. Do NOT try to manage or edit project files via Windows Explorer. This will break the intelligence of the system and / or break links between drawings.

Chapter 5: Connecting Advance Steel with Revit
One of the key benefits of using Autodesk tools is how easily they can talk to each other—and Advance Steel and Revit are no exception.Whether you're starting your model in Advance Steel and need to bring it into Revit for coordination, or you’ve got a Revit model you want to detail in Advance Steel, the link between the two can save loads of time and effort. In this chapter, we’ll walk through how to export your Advance Steel model for use in Revit, and how to bring Revit models into Advance Steel—so you can keep your workflows connected, coordinated and efficient. To bring an Advance Steel model into Revit, you’ll need to use the Advance Steel Extension for Revit. This add-in enables Revit to read and interpret models exported from Advance Steel.
